What do I get?
Email announcement lists are a new service from Leland Systems!

When you register for Email Announcement Lists, you'll get an e-mail distribution list of all your students. This list will be updated automatically, using current enrollment data from the Registrar, so you won't have to deal with subscribing or unsubscribing students as they add or drop the class. Please note that we use students' "@stanford.edu" email addresses. If they use another account as their primary email address, they should set their @stanford.edu address to forward to that account at StanfordYou

You'll also get three other lists, making it easy to communicate with the appropriate groups of people related to your class!

Four lists are created:
classname-qtr-staff - a list containing only the class staff members
classname-qtr-students - a list containing only the class students.
Note:the student list is auto-populated with information from the Registrar's Office. You can not alter this list.

classname-qtr-guests - a list containing only the class guests, such as invited speakers
classname-qtr-all - a list containing all the members of the other three lists

How do I use it?
Easy! Say your class is ee103 and it's winter quarter 2002-03:
All you have to do is send email to:    ee103-win0203-students@lists.stanford.edu
...and every student in your class will receive the message.

Note: These lists are for educational use only.

About signing up?
  Register for Leland Course Services.
Complete the form, listing all class instructors, TAs, etc. In section 2 be sure to select the "Class announcement-only email lists" service.

How do I maintain my lists?
Remember: the classname-students and classname--all lists are maintained automatically.
You can maintain the other lists -- add people, remove them, change the password, etc. -- using the web version of Majordomo at http://lists.stanford.edu/majordomo. Note that, while the classname--students list can not be altered, you can still use Majordomo to see who is on that list.

(Majordomo is the internet mailing list product used by Stanford)
